The short version
- 01Open Communication functions > Error details or Error details on the Wi-Fi on screen.
- 02For error 11, start Camera Connect or EOS Utility for the selected connection target.
- 03For error 12, turn on the target device and access point, then repeat the connection setup.
- 04For errors 21 or 22, ask the network administrator to verify DHCP or DNS availability and configured addresses.
- 05For error 23 on a DHCP network, use Auto setting instead of a conflicting manual IP address.
- 06For error 61 or 64, compare the selected SSID and access-point settings using this model's manual.
Likely causes
- Camera Connect or EOS Utility is not running, or the connection target is off.
- DHCP, DNS or a duplicate IP address prevents the intended network connection.
- The selected SSID, access-point settings or wireless path does not match the camera.
Read the communication error before changing the network
On this model, Canon opens Communication functions > Error details or the Error details control on the Wi-Fi on screen. Our first record is the code and intended destination. A missing phone app is a different fault from an address server that does not respond.
Errors 11 and 12: check the intended connection target
For 11, Canon checks that Camera Connect or EOS Utility is running for the selected destination. For 12, it checks that the other device and access point are on, then repeats the connection procedure if needed. Follow the target you actually selected rather than treating all camera Wi-Fi as router setup.
Errors 21, 22 and 23: investigate the address services
Canon identifies 21 as no DHCP address, 22 as no DNS response and 23 as a duplicate IP address. The administrator can verify server availability and the intended addresses. For a conflicting manual address on a DHCP network, the manual changes the camera to Auto setting. Our recommendation is to retain the network's intended configuration before changing it.
Errors 61 and 64: compare SSID and access-point settings
For 61, Canon checks the selected SSID, powered access point and visible wireless path. For 64, it compares encryption compatibility and any MAC-address registration requirement. Use the matching manual branch and ask the network administrator to apply its supported settings. This does not establish that every Canon body has the same menus or wireless capabilities.
