The short version
- 01Record the exact peripheral model, operating system and Synapse version.
- 02Check the supported-device list for that specific Synapse version.
- 03Test the device's normal input separately from whether Synapse lists it.
- 04For Synapse 4, connect directly to the computer without a USB hub.
- 05Restart after first installation or an update, then use Synapse repair if detection still fails.
- 06Check that Synapse 4 is not running in compatibility mode and report continuing failures to Razer.
Raw message
Device missing in Synapse
Likely causes
- The device is unsupported by the installed Synapse version.
- Connection, software or compatibility-mode settings affect detection.
Match the device to the installed Synapse version
Razer asks users to check the supported-device list for their Synapse version first. An unsupported device may still work without Synapse. Our recommendation is to record the model and test normal input separately from software detection.
Use the current Synapse 4 branch
For Synapse 4, Razer specifies a direct computer connection without a hub and a restart after first installation or an update. If detection still fails, use its Synapse repair route.
Check the software mode before deeper changes
The Synapse 4 branch also checks that the application is not running in compatibility mode. Other versions and Mac have separate branches. Our recommendation is to retain the version and USB comparison for Razer support rather than applying another platform's steps.
