The short version
- 01Record the exact keyboard model and whether all keys or one key fail.
- 02Connect directly to a suitable computer USB port, including required connectors.
- 03Check for Wave lighting or a green Ripple while keys fail to type.
- 04Use the matching model's documented demo-mode exit sequence.
- 05Update model firmware and Synapse, then compare input with Synapse closed.
- 06Follow software repair if closing Synapse helps; request hardware support if input still fails.
Raw message
Keyboard input failure
Likely causes
- The keyboard is in lighting demo mode.
- The USB connection, Synapse software or a keyboard switch needs investigation.
Begin with the model and USB requirements
Razer asks for a direct connection without a hub, extender or KVM. Check the keyboard's USB requirements and required connectors; on a desktop it recommends rear ports. Our recommendation is to record whether all keys fail or only one does.
Use the documented model-specific demo exit
Razer identifies default Wave lighting and a green Ripple on typing as possible demo-mode signs. For its listed wired families, unplug, hold Escape, Caps Lock and Space, reconnect, then release. Huntsman Elite specifies the RAZER connector; its second connector powers underglow. V3 Pro/Mini HyperSpeed has a separate switch-off sequence. Check the matching branch first.
Let the Synapse comparison decide the next step
Razer's key procedure updates firmware, Synapse and the OS, then tests with Synapse disabled. If that helps, it directs a clean software reinstall. If key trouble remains, a switch may be involved; switch replacement applies only to hot-swappable keyboards. Our recommendation is to use support for other models.
