13003
Likely causes
- The user's permissions do not allow app installation.
- A driver conflict; Zoom specifically asks users to check video and audio drivers.
Check whether your account can install apps
Zoom names two possibilities for this installation error: insufficient installation permissions or a driver conflict. Our recommendation is to establish who manages the computer first. If your account cannot install apps, give the administrator the installer message and ask them to handle the installation.
Windows: check video and audio drivers
Zoom explicitly requires current video and audio drivers and links Microsoft's driver guidance. Microsoft recommends Windows Update first. For a specific device, right-click Start, open Device Manager, expand the relevant device category, then choose Update driver and the automatic search option.
If an updated driver must be installed manually, Microsoft says to obtain the correct Windows version and architecture from the device manufacturer's website. Contact that manufacturer if its driver cannot be updated. Our recommendation is to record which device was checked and whether an update was available.
Reinstall through Zoom's standard route
On Windows, open Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Zoom Workplace or zoom.us and uninstall it. Download the current app from Zoom's Download Center and reinstall. For another platform, use the matching standard uninstall instructions in the source below.
Our recommendation is to use the ordinary uninstall when replacing Zoom on the same device. Zoom warns that deeper cleanup with CleanZoom or removal of cryptographic keys can permanently remove access to encrypted Zoom Mail messages and certain encrypted voicemails. Retest the installer and retain any remaining error for support.
