Raw message

3000 (during installation)

Likely causes

  • A running process prevents the Zoom installer from overwriting an existing file.

Use the installation meaning of 3000

Zoom's error table identifies 3000 during installation: a running process stops the installer replacing an existing file. It prescribes uninstalling Zoom and installing the latest version. The Spanish-language table is linked below; this explanation translates that specific row.

Our recommendation is to record the installation stage and complete message, finish any active meeting and quit the app before removal. Have IT perform the replacement on an organization-managed device.

Remove the existing app through its standard uninstaller

On Windows, open Control Panel > Uninstall a program, or Programs and Features, and remove Zoom Workplace or zoom.us. On Mac, open the app and use the Zoom Workplace menu > Uninstall Zoom Workplace. Zoom then directs both platforms to its Download Center for reinstallation.

Use the ordinary uninstall branch. Zoom warns that CleanZoom and deeper keychain cleanup can remove encryption keys needed for encrypted Zoom Mail messages and Zoom Phone voicemail. Those cleanup methods need the backup or escrow arrangements described in its documentation.

Retest the installer and keep the result

Download the current installer using the Download Center link in Sources. Our recommendation is to repeat the failed installation and record any remaining error, OS version and installer version for IT or Zoom support. A different code needs its own documented procedure.

Sources and review notes

Checked on . The installation meaning and remedy come from Zoom's Spanish-language error table; platform steps come from its English uninstall article. Quitting before removal, managed-device escalation and retesting are editorial guidance. Glitchary is independent of Zoom.
